Claims handling
Claim files from report to decision: policies, triage and a register of every claim
The Claims handling module follows damage from the side of whoever handles the claim: a public report form, a register of every file a damage report opened, policies with cover and excess, decisions per line with an authority ladder, and severity triage with a list of possible total losses.
Who it is for
Fleet, hire and lease companies that handle damage as the claimant, and claims handlers who decide line by line.
Claims handling stands apart from Damage valuation: valuation puts an amount on damage, claims handling decides who pays it under which policy.
What it does
-
1. Public report form
A customer or third party reports damage without an account, with the organisation's checklist. The report stays a draft until the reporter clicks a confirmation link in their email.
-
2. A report opens a file
Which reports open a claim file is a setting, not a fixed list in the code.
-
3. Claims register
Every file with the incident reference and date, the next statutory recovery deadline, the amounts claimed and received per currency, and the lead time. Amounts in different currencies are never added together.
-
4. The claim tab on the file
The reports, who was driving at the reported moment, the policies in force that day with cover, excess and limit, the progress of the repair, the settlements and the recovery.
-
5. Policies
Policies with their cover, and a lookup of which policy covers a vehicle at a given moment, up to which limit, and whether the driver is allowed.
-
6. Decisions per line
Decision lines per decision, a list of lines that ask for information within seven days, and an authority ladder with maximum amounts per level.
-
7. Severity triage
A list of possible total losses, triage by call, through the insurer's portal or with a photo analysis that produces a proposal a staff member reviews.
What it does not do
- The register has no write button and no 'new claim': a file comes from a report.
- Cover and excess are read from the policy and not decided here; the insurer decides per line.
- Policies are not pulled automatically from an insurer's own systems.
- No marketplace and no commission on the claim amount.

Questions?
What does Claims handling cost?
Price on request: no plan in Tavuni's public price list includes Claims handling yet.
Can a customer report damage without an account?
Yes, through the organisation's public report form. The report counts only after a click on the confirmation link in the email.
Does Tavuni decide on cover?
No. Cover and excess come from the policy; the insurer decides per line.
