The app for work in the field: inspections, walk-around, day plan and working offline
Tavuni's mobile app is for people who work in the field: inspections from templates, a walk-around with photos and a signature, recognition of plate, VIN and odometer on the device itself, a day plan with tasks and a timer, and working offline with encrypted storage.
Who it is for
Inspectors, technicians, drivers and fleet managers. Customers and drivers without an account come in through a link from the dispatcher.
The mobile app is a module apart from Inspections: Inspections decides what is recorded, the app decides where. An organisation can also run inspections from the office only.
What it does

1. Sign in and pick the organisation
A staff member signs in and picks the organisation; someone working for several organisations switches within the app.

2. Inspections offline
Start an inspection by plate, with a template, and an overview of zones, damage and photos before submitting.

3. Walk-around and evidence
A diagram of the car with coloured zones, a guided camera, annotations on a photo kept as a new image next to the original, a customer signature and a before-and-after comparison.

4. Recognition on the device
Plate, VIN with check-digit validation, odometer and barcodes, with a check on sharpness and light. No image leaves the device for such a suggestion.

5. Voice notes
Voice notes are transcribed on the device itself.

6. Working offline
An encrypted local database, a queue that sends as soon as there is a connection, and a prompt on a conflict.

7. Day plan and tasks
An agenda from the calendar, tasks with start, pause and complete, and a timer that keeps running when the app closes. With the Time registration module each timed run becomes a time entry.

8. End of contract and port check
Damage at the end of a contract with the organisation's damage catalogue, and a worklist per arriving vehicle for the check at a port.

9. Final check on a tablet
A tablet is paired for the final check in the workshop, item by item, with offline photos and a dual signature.

10. Without an account
A driver or customer opens a session through a link from the dispatcher, records what is asked or reports damage to a vehicle.
What it does not do
- Customers and drivers get no user account; they work through a link.
- Push notifications run through Apple's and Google's services, and only when the user turns them on.

Does the app work without internet?
Yes. Inspections, photos and tasks are kept locally and encrypted, and sent as soon as there is a connection.
Do photos go to an external service for recognition?
No. Plate, VIN, odometer and barcodes are recognised on the device itself; no image leaves the device for that.
Does a driver need an account?
No. A driver or customer works through a link from the dispatcher, without an account.
